THEKEN PRESENTING AT 20TH ANNUAL
DISORDERS OF THE SPINE MEETING
Akron, OH – (January 19, 2008) Theken Spine, a leader in spinal fixation systems, announces the debut of the Atoll™ Cervico-Thoracic Fixation System by Jason Smith, M.D. at the 20th Annual Disorders of the Spine Meeting presented by the University of South Florida and University of Rochester at the Westin Resort & Spa, Whistler, British Columbia, Canada.
Dr. Smith, a key member of the Atoll surgeon design team, will demonstrate the system to surgeons from around the country on January 19-23, 2008. The Disorders of the Spine meeting features emerging technology within the spinal surgery field and provides surgeons the opportunity to participate in product workshops from many of the leading spinal implant companies. It also allows for one-on-one interaction between surgeons and product engineers.
Another Theken design surgeon, Ahn Le, M.D. from Baltimore, Maryland, is presenting on deformity correction with the Coral™ Spinal System. This is the second year for the Coral Spinal System to be demonstrated at the Disorders of the Spine meeting.
The Atoll Cervico-Thoracic system is indicated to promote fusion of the cevico-thoracic regions of the spine (cervical vertebrae 1 – thoracic vertebrae 3). Composed of titanium alloy, the Atoll System contains polyaxial screws, rods, arched and straight cross-connectors, hooks, and patent pending locking screw assemblies. These components are available in an assortment of sizes to allow for a variety of configurations to better fit each individual patient anatomy.
The Coral Spinal System offers fixation for deformity or degenerative spinal conditions in the thoraco-lumbar spine (T1-S1). The Coral Spinal System consists of a variety of types and sizes of rods, hooks, screws, and cross-connectors. Implant components can be rigidly locked into a variety of configurations that can be fit for the individual case.
